Sunday 10th June
What a great sleep! I woke up at 3.30 AM and thought I was still on Tassie time, but I went back to sleep until 7, glad about that…
Made our first venture onto the water- Stew, Kristy and I decided to be soft and just do the upper section above the classic race course as well as the first 5 minutes, which was a good decision as the first run felt ordinary but the other 2 runs were pretty good. Did the last one with a bit of pace, the water here is absolutely honking fast. On the bits where you are happy to look at your watch, the speeds are around 20km/hr- it’s like paddling on a really fast conveyer belt. Ben Oakley from the British team is staying with us for a while and is covering all our entertainment needs, which is just as well as none of us have sorted out a way to get the internet yet. Off to Macdonald’s tomorrow to take advantage of wifi and a bit of Club Penguin action with Hamish.
